23 July 2007 - New Peekture - Sheesh, only took me a year and a month. :/ I added a piece of fanart for Corey and Breccia of Questing Norrath to the gallery.

19 June 2007 - Catchup - There have been a number of changes in my life (the good kind) that are not related to art, and have interfered with my art-energies and arting-time, so I haven't done any finished work in a while, but I do have a few odds 'n ends on the Jungle Fire forums I've done. Here are some links to a year long Work-in-Progress, a sketch of our Guild Wars characters, and some Jungle Fire character concepts.

And while you are visiting our forums, sign up and say hello!

4 May 2007 - New pictures - Two new character portraits (Puny Pebble and Civora Rainmaker) in the gallery.

17 March 2007 - New picture - A new portrait in the gallery, and a step-by-step of it in the tutorials list.

12 January 2007 - New picture - A new character portrait in the gallery of my sister as a Centaur. I did this last year and just forgot to update the gallery.

1 January 2007 - New pictures - Two new ElfQuest fan art drawings in the gallery.

6 December 2006 - New picture - A new character portrait in the gallery, of Cobalt Katze.

17 November 2006 - New picture in gallery - Rawr, something new for once that I consider worth putting in the gallery. I also want to mention what a wonderful thing monitor calibration is. We finally broken down a month or so ago and bought a high-quality monitor calibration puck (after much reading of reviews, thank you Kael!). When I saw my artwork after the calibration I cringed. Looks like I've had my monitor set so that artwork look pretty to me - AKA too much contrast and darks. This meant my artwork looked washed out and blah to the rest of the world. I'm so sorry World. :( Things will be better from now on.

12 October 2006 - Two new old pictures in gallery - I decided that two of my older pictures were worth sharing in the gallery. Look for "Raptor" and "Jessica Rabbit as Adventurer.

8 May 2006 - Minor Site changes - Due to switching webhosts, I no longer have access to an ad-free version of the Dreambook guestbook, so I removed that from the site. I'm looking at installing a ViPER guestbook, so that I can have a guestbook that is not proprietary to my webhost.

Another small change I made is that I removed the flash-version check that the galleries were doing. It was saying some people didn't have flash when they did, and preventing access to the galleries. So, they are always visible now, but if you don't have Flash installed, they won't warn you and you'll have to figure out how to download it yourself.

18 January 2006 - My favorite fantasy artists come in two categories. Those that are whimsical and are borderline abstract, and those that are realistic without being too heavily 'real world'. Michael Whelan is my favorite among the later, I think. But an artist that has been catching my attention more and more lately is someone who straddles the two styles. His subject material is certainly realistic and not abstract, but in the margins and backgrounds he leaves just enough to your imagination. And his people are invariably beautiful. Real but beautiful.

I also get this feeling that he "gets it". That is to say, when I've read a story, then see his illustration, I could tell he read it closely himself. That gains points from me.

Oh, yes, his name. Todd Lockwood. You've probably heard about him if you are a gamer (he does a LOT of work for AD&D). He's not one of the first four, but he's pretty well established.

In any case, the reason I brought him up is because I was reading his FAQ (he has a fun site, btw), and he had what I think is one of the most wonderful set of answers for aspiring artists. His answers were lengthy, but I was rivited.

Should I become an artist?

Do you have any advice for someone who's quite solidly stuck with only abstract painting skills?

How do I get started? What advice can you give an aspiring artist?

27 November 2005 - I did it again. Site is revamped. I believe this is my fourth layout in the past two years, and the first time where Kipinä is not the site art. Except he is, indirectly. The picture you see at the left began as a piece of fan art in a contest (and which subsequently won, hence the copyright statement you see for it at the bottom left of this site), but became, as it developed, somewhat of a self-portrait of my muse and I in one.

In any case, eventually I'll find something to put here on the front page, but for now I just want to get this new look up and running.

So what is changed from the old site?
